Jung-woo Ha (“Take Off” “The Yellow Sea”) plays a morning radio show host Yeong-hwa Yoon, who receives a phone call from an angry listener during the show, who threatens to detonate bomb in the city of Seoul.Soon Yoon realizes that the mysterious caller is not joking. And Yoon, once a top news anchorperson, thinks this is a great chance for him to get back what he has lost. However, what he thought an exclusive news story turns into a nightmare when the criminal, clever and resourceful, demands something he never expected. The premise is slightly similar to that of a 2002 thriller “Phone Booth.” The camera for the most part of the story stays inside the studio, focusing the interactions between Jung-woo Ha’s character and the stranger on the other side of the phone, though the story itself is much larger and more political than the Colin Farrell thriller.Written and directed by Byeong-woo Kim, “The Terror, Live” is tight and intense thriller. Though some part of the story is contrived, and the final act gets a bit too unbelievable, the thriller is largely a success thanks to the fine performance from Jung-woo Ha and effective direction.
