This powerful anthology charts the golden era of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The Chilis really took off in 1989 when the line-up of Flea, Kiedis, Frusciante, and Smith came together. This was the longest lasting line-up of the band and together they recorded five studio albums beginning with Mother s Milk . In 1990, the group signed to Warner Brothers and recorded the classic album Blood Sugar Sex Magik . This definitive album remains one of the Red Hot Chili Pepper s biggest commercial successes. Give It Away was released as the first single and swiftly became one of the band s biggest hits. However Frusciante grew uncomfortable with the direction of the band and he left abruptly in 1992, in the middle of the Blood Sugar Sex Magik Tour. We are fortunate however that we have the classic broadcast from San Diego as a reminder of just how good the classic line up sounded back in 1991. The band performs a powerful set which features the Chilis at their red hot best. By 1994 the Chilis had become stadium fillers and the immortal broadcast from Woodstock in 1994 is widely hailed as an all-time classic and a must have for every Chilis fan. The unforgettable moment in rock history came when the band took to the stage dressed as giant light bulbs and let rip with an astonishing array of hits including a peerless version of Under The Bridge . Essential listening for every RHCP fan out there.
