There is only one thing wrong with this show, it appears to have been shot on only 2 cameras. One long shot, one close shot. It's from 2003, and appears to be shot in Standard Definition and only 2 channel stereo sound.**That's really the only thing bad I can say about the entire disc. The packaging is gorgeous and detailed. You feel glad you bought this. It feels worth owning.Otherwise it is a magnificent show featuring some great names from the european metal scene. Arjen Anthony Lucassen shows you why he is considered not only a fine guitarist in his own right, but a writing genius. The concert uses simple sets and lighting but maintains a feeling of being a "show".This is the concert to support the "Space Metal" CD, which is a magnificent studio achievement. The good news is that the guest musicians from the CD are here to reprise their roles and support it on tour, so you get the same killer lineup that made the studio release. You're swept away immediately with "Set Your Controls" as they launch you into the "Space Metal" CD's song list.Other songs from Ayreon that belong here like "Dawn of a Million Souls" are some of the highlights too. What really stands out are the individual performances. Russell Allen's vocals are amazing, and the ensemble cast does not disappoint either. Floor Jansen absolutely breaks your heart with her impassioned rendition of "Valley of the Queens / Isis and Osiris"Arjen Lucassen's fiesty guitar vs keyboard battle with Joost van den Broek is almost worth the price of admission alone. It is rare to see two virtuoso musicians go at it with a flair for comic humor. They shred with smiles on their faces. That is one thing I really enjoy about Star One and this concert. They smile. They are obviously having a good time performing good music. They are all aces and they obviously respect each other.I can't recommend this highly enough, if you like heavy rock and you don't mind music that is a little more complex and subtle. A little more progressive, with a funky space theme.Arjen Anthony Lucassen is, in my humble opinion, a genius. What he's created here - what he wrote - who he enlisted to perform it - is nothing short of a metal miracle.Buy the DVD! You won't regret it.This is nothing more than great musicians making great music. It transcends style. I can't imagine anyone not liking this concert. Having 4 lead vocalists means the music can be quite varied in sound, mood, and tone. It also means they have some really strong choruses when they are all singing together.
